With exceptional camera work and a striking eye for detail, Mutts is a captivating story about a refuge for stray dogs in Morocco. Coupled with strong imagery, the story about 750 dogs’ monotonous routine while waiting to be adopted evokes a powerful narrative about displacement, confinement and belonging. The film’s title itself is telling of undesirability and the need to belong, to be loved and accepted.
