It Takes A Circus

It Takes a Circus: Juggling Life on a Tightrope follows a circus squad in Trenton, New Jersey, where students in the area and from the surrounding suburbs meet, learn tricks and perform after school. The space is much more than a simple co-curricular programme as the warm community, mentorships and friendships the space facilitates have a huge impact on the students, many of whom have difficult home lives and come to practice for a sense of reprieve. With the COVID-19 pandemic and the murder of George Floyd in 2020, the space was drastically changed as its members and organisers adapted to keep the space alive and used the circus as a way to express their voices.
