The Endless Chain depicts an all-boys school in Wynberg, Cape Town, which breeds generations of young men in a close connection of brotherhood, brand loyalty and pride. With traditions instilled over many decades, sports events being taken to the extreme and an emphasis on the responsibility that comes with wearing a blazer, the students of Wynberg Boys School uphold sacred rituals and customs that make them ‘acceptable as real men in the eyes of their parents and teachers. This brings various issues of patriarchy and toxic masculinity to the table discussion. The film brilliantly highlights the current reality of most males who still feel as if being more human means being less of a man.
